Meta Sandstone – Location 26

Sample : Photo location 26
Rock name : Meta Sandstone  (Turner, 1982)

Megascopic description:

Granoblastic rock with little amount of lepidoblastic minerals. Probably of meta quartz/ feldsphatic arenite sandstone

Microscopic description:

The thin section of meta sandstone shows the porphyroblastic texture that the quartz and feldspar grains present as blasto-porpyroblasts, anhedral in crytals shape, some of them have the elongate shape, 0.3 – 2.0 mm, locally up to 3.5 mm in size, they embedded in the recrystallized of clay matrixs groundmass into illite/sericite with the patches of opaque minerals. The recrystallized of clay matrixs showed the orientation in the some area of thin section to form the foliation structure, some of them are folded and/or faulted to form the microfold or micro faults.
