Meta Sandstone – Location 5

Sample : Photo location 5
Rock name : Meta Sandstone  (Turner, 1982)

Megascopic description:

Coarse grain granoblastic rock with sutured contact, they cut by quartz veins. Quartz is dominant with common black euhedral, fine grain amphibole (?). Earlier (pre-meta/ deformation) cracks filled with dark green – black materials. Beige color materials are common betwen quartz grains.

Microscopic description:

The thin section of meta sandstone consist of quartz grains with undulatory extinction and locally feldspar grains that the quartz usually recrystallized in their rims to form the mortar structure, 0.3 – 1.5 mm in size, and anhedral in crystal shape. Muscovite and tourmaline usually present in the space of grains as recrystallization products of clay matrix of protolith
